# Factions Overview

The Factions system is the **community-oriented PvP content** of Aincrad Legacy. It is made as part of the world building, so that players' choices affect their surroundings.

## The four factions

**MBC**, **ALF**, **DDA** and **KOB** are the four factions constantly competing against each other for **fame and resources** within Aincrad, each with its own interests and goals.

All four factions have a **signed treaty**: conflicts between them can only happen inside designated areas known as **Control Points** and **Resource Points**.

* Your faction comes from your **guild** - when a guild pledges to a faction, every member belongs to it. The pledge is permanent for the guild and grants a unique **faction emblem**.
* **Your faction's monsters treat you as an ally**, while rival factions' monsters attack you on sight.
* Every Adventurer displays an overhead **alliance crystal** that signals their allegiance at a glance.

## The organization: Laughing Coffin

The **LC** group, on the other hand, has no interest in those areas - they just want to clash with strong foes, have good fights, and survive dire situations.

This makes them the only group to work **outside of the treaty**: an LC member can attack **anyone** that is not in a safe zone (every city and every waypoint field is considered a safe zone). But as wildly as they live, they can also be **attacked by anyone**.

Being part of the LC also means you **cannot join a guild** - the organization is only for the guildless, joined through its own quest.

## Bonuses and fame

All factions have **specific bonuses** for following them and specific **fame/tier rewards** - see what fits your beliefs or your build in the sections below.

Fame is measured **by character** and **by the faction itself**; both numbers are independent:

* **Top rankers** are based on **character fame** (eligible only after 10,000 total fame).
* **Tier rewards** are based on **faction fame**.

How each side earns it:

* **Factions** gain fame from managing to control interest points throughout Aincrad - they give points over a period of time.
* **LC**'s fame is the **sum of all members' fame**.
* **Characters** gain fame through quests done for the [Adventurer's Company](/aincrad-legacy-docs/progression/adventurers-company.md), by killing members of other factions, and by killing LC members (LC internal fights can happen).

Every reputation is lost in time if not maintained - fame **decays** over time:

```
Faction total fame        - decays 5% every 3 days.
Faction members fame      - decays 5% every 3 days.
Organization members fame - decays 4% every 3 days.
```

See [Faction Fame](/aincrad-legacy-docs/factions/faction-fame.md) for the full fame rules, the `@fame` window, and the cost of switching alliances.

## Moonlit Black Cats (MBC)

The Moonlit Black Cats always welcomes the **innocent**, the **witted** and the **talented**.

The MBC alliance is what you could call a casual players' alliance: their goal is exploration and fun, free-spirited at its core, but fierce when threatened.

The ones who really hold power here are the **3 Panthers** - the 3 top-ranked players in the MBC. This ranking is based on their character fame over Aincrad: the more **renowned** a player is, the higher their ranking will be. Each of the three ranks carries its own distinct bonus (to be revealed).

All players that pledge alliance to MBC instantly get:

```
+5% Character XP
+5% Adventure XP
+5% Mastery XP
```

All players that pledge alliance to MBC also get bonuses based on the alliance's total fame, across **5 tiers** (values being finalized).

## Aincrad Liberation Force (ALF)

The Aincrad Liberation Force always welcomes the **focused**, the **dutiful** and the **righteous**.

This alliance has its roots in the incident of Akihiko's Aincrad, where its main goal was to create a task force for clearing floors while keeping deaths as low as possible. The main goal is the same as before - pioneering floor exploration and trying to keep casualties as low as possible, even though death is not as scary as it was back then.

The ones who really hold power here are the **3 Liberators** - the 3 top-ranked players in the ALF. This ranking is based on their character fame over Aincrad: the more **renowned** a player is, the higher their ranking will be. Each of the three ranks carries its own distinct bonus (to be revealed).

All players that pledge alliance to ALF instantly get:

```
+5% damage against Bosses
-5% damage received from Bosses
```

All players that pledge alliance to ALF also get bonuses based on the alliance's total fame, across **5 tiers** (values being finalized).

## Divine Dragon Alliance (DDA)

The Divine Dragon Alliance always welcomes the **ruthless**, the **centered** and the **powerful**.

The DDA alliance is the very embodiment of strength at all costs, pushing further and harder than most other alliances. Their only goal is to become stronger - and they create the means to achieve it.

The ones who really hold power here are the **3 Dragons** - the 3 top-ranked players in the DDA. This ranking is based on their character fame over Aincrad: the more **renowned** a player is, the higher their ranking will be. Each of the three ranks carries its own distinct bonus (to be revealed).

All players that pledge alliance to DDA instantly get:

```
+10% damage against normal monsters
-10% damage received from normal monsters
```

All players that pledge alliance to DDA also get bonuses based on the alliance's total fame, across **5 tiers** (values being finalized).

## Knights of the Blood Oath (KOB)

The Knights of the Blood Oath always welcomes the **noble**, the **loyal** and the **honored**.

The KOB alliance's foundation is somewhat unique, as its former leader was Akihiko himself. The KOB treats that as a shame of the past and does everything it can to make up for it. KOB's goals are to keep order and government over players - to see everything function as it should.

The ones who really hold power here are the **3 Oathkeepers** - the 3 top-ranked players in the KOB. This ranking is based on their character fame over Aincrad: the more **renowned** a player is, the higher their ranking will be. Each of the three ranks carries its own distinct bonus (to be revealed).

All players that pledge alliance to KOB instantly get:

```
+5% drop rate
+5% gained Col
```

All players that pledge alliance to KOB also get bonuses based on the alliance's total fame, across **5 tiers** (values being finalized).

## Laughing Coffin (LC)

The Laughing Coffin always welcomes the **strong**, the **cunning** and the **bloodlusted**.

This organization is not bound by mere morals, as its only rule is the rule of the strongest. "The winner takes all" at its purest form is what mends this into an "organization" at all - no one can stand above, not even its "allies".

Every fight that an LC member picks is a demonstration of pure violence. There is no room for mercy - sparing is for the weak. LC fights till its last breath, or yours (**lethal PvP combat**).

The ones who really hold power here are the **3 Mad Demons** - the 3 top-ranked players in the LC. This ranking is based on their character fame over Aincrad: the more **feared** a player is, and the more **chaos** they havoc, the higher their ranking will be. Each of the three ranks carries its own distinct bonus (to be revealed).

The LC does **not** take interest in faction wars at all, but they can join every siege attempt to wreak havoc and earn fame and glory.

Remember: being part of the LC means you **cannot join a guild**.

All players that pledge alliance to LC instantly get:

```
+5% damage against players
-5% damage received from players
```

All players that pledge alliance to LC also get bonuses based on the alliance's total fame - and as LC does not benefit from interest maps, they have a **double tiered bonus**: **10 tiers** (values being finalized), with the alliance's fame being the sum of all members' personal fame.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://aincrad-legacy.gitbook.io/aincrad-legacy-docs/factions/overview.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
