# Character & Adventure Levels

Aincrad Legacy uses two separate levels, and they are named differently from what you may be used to. Knowing what each one does is the first step to building a strong Adventurer.

## Character Level

Your **Character Level** is your raw power level. It grows as you defeat monsters and complete content, and it raises your core combat stats - HP, SP, and your overall strength.

Think of Character Level as *how strong your body is*. It is the level most content checks against (monster difficulty, region access, and so on).

## Adventure Level

Your **Adventure Level** represents your mastery of your chosen **role**. It grows **only** by completing **Adventurer's Company** quests - not from combat - and it powers up your role's passive abilities.

Think of Adventure Level as *how skilled you are at your role*. Many role bonuses get stronger as your Adventure Level rises, so it is just as important as Character Level for shaping how you play.

> **Heads up:** if you ever switch your role at the recruiter, your Adventure Level resets to 1 (your Character Level is untouched). See [Choosing Your Role](/aincrad-legacy-docs/getting-started/choosing-your-role.md).

## Quick comparison

|                       | Character Level    | Adventure Level      |

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://aincrad-legacy.gitbook.io/aincrad-legacy-docs/getting-started/levels.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
